Wilderness Therapy Day Hikes
With all of the pressures, stresses and activities of our modern world, we have individually and collectively lost our natural connection with our in-born ability to be intuitive about the course and direction we take in life. As a result, our relationships with ourselves and with others become clouded by external pressures and what we think we “should” do, say or be instead of following our own “inner higher voice” toward well-being, peace and personal and relationship satisfaction. We end up with symptoms of depression, anxiety, insomnia or low self-esteem. Or, we simply feel unhappy but can’t seem to figure out why. Our lives become woefully out of balance.
Embarking on a wilderness therapy day hike allows each participant to explore problems and concerns in a deeper, more authentic way; reconnect with inner wisdom; problem-solve away from the noise and interference of technology and traffic-driven daily static; and learn how to maintain a heart-centered, balanced way of living that can be incorporated into daily life.
The wilderness holds restorative and therapeutic qualities that are enhanced on a day hike when combined with Tamara’s expertise and individualized attention toward facilitating your personal growth process. During your hike, you will spend 5 hours with her and receive individual one-on-one attention as she teaches you how to interact with the natural world in a manner that will show you how to return to your authentic self and discover your inner strength – that will guide you along your healing and growth process. During your hike, you will benefit from therapeutic conversation, guided meditation and personal reflective time. Before your first hike, you will participate in a half-hour orientation session with Tamara in her office in Redlands.
Your hike is planned according to your needs and individually tailored to take your specific concerns into a dynamic growth process. Although wilderness therapy involves hiking, the focus is not on physical fitness training, but rather on fostering a deep connection with the self through nature. Currently, wilderness therapy day hikes are being conducted in the San Bernardino National Forest in the Jenks Lake area. They involve hiking up to four miles at a pace guided by each individual participant with plenty of time allowed for rest, quiet discussion and meditative learning.
Give yourself, your child or your relationship the gift of learning from what nature has to offer you. Please follow the links below for descriptions of activities and benefits for specific wilderness therapy hikes.

Selecting a therapist is a difficult and very personal process. How can you know whom will be the best therapist to help you develop the most happiness, well-being and satisfaction in your life? How will you know whom you can trust?
Tamara is an active therapist who listens deeply in a heart-centered way to the concerns her clients bring. You should leave each and every session with the awareness that you are doing effective work as well as action steps you can take to begin making improvements in your life. If you have had therapy anywhere else and it didn’t provide you with these things, it wasn’t therapy!
A great therapist will push you toward being your best self. “Nice conversations” are not what help you make the most effective changes in your life. A therapist who is committed to constant personal growth and improvement and one who has walked through a wealth of life experience is most suited to effectively guide you along your own path of growth. Tamara has the credentials, the commitment and experience to help in an authentic and effective way that has helped hundreds of clients step into happier, healthier lives.
Tamara says: “I believe my clients are the experts about their own lives. I strive to help individuals, couples and families grow by providing information, as well as a sense of safety and empowerment in the therapeutic relationship. I act on the belief that once my clients have found their own voices, they will discover renewed power to direct their own behavior toward the achievement of personal and relationship goals.”
